My Story

Professional Background

Jess has been a dedicated healthcare professional since 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, and became a Registered Nurse the same year. By 2014, she expanded her expertise by becoming a Registered Midwife, having completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery from Curtin University, Perth. Her commitment to maternal and child health continued to grow, and in 2021, she achieved the status of International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Jess is also an active member of the Lactation Consultants of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ).

In 2023, Jess furthered her qualifications by completing the Prescribing for Midwives course at Griffith University, enabling her to become an Endorsed Midwife with prescribing rights through Medicare. She also became a certified Calmbirth Educator, helping expectant parents prepare for a calm and positive birthing experience.

Jess's professional journey includes valuable clinical experience. She has worked as a Paediatric Nurse at Princess Margaret Children’s Hospital and as a Midwife at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women. At KEMH, she cared for both high-risk women and babies and later transitioned to the Family Birth Centre, where she provided continuity of care for low-risk birthing women. In 2016, Jess had the privilege of traveling to Tanzania with the Global Health Alliance Western Australia (GHAWA), where she contributed to international health development programs, supporting midwives and improving care for women and babies.

Currently, Jess is a part of the Northam Regional Hospital's Avon Valley Midwifery Group Practice. Here, she delivers midwifery-led care to the women of the Wheatbelt, WA, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate support throughout their pregnancy, birthing and postpartum journey.

Jess now offers Endorsed Private Practice Midwife care, providing continuous support for women seeking both homebirths and hospital births. She has gained admitting rights at both King Edward Memorial Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, allowing her to offer seamless care across different birthing environments.

A little about me

Since I was a young girl, I was always drawn to mothers and babies. I loved being around them, watching, learning, and helping where I could. Coming from a family lineage of nurses and midwives who have supported and educated women through generations, I am incredibly proud to continue this path. My goal is to build and strengthen the support and care for women, babies, and families, and to work towards changing the culture of birth and postpartum for future generations.

I have had the privilege of providing education and support to midwives, women, and babies in Tanzania. This experience deepened my commitment to improving maternal and child health globally.

Becoming a mother myself has been a profound learning experience. I've faced the good days, the bad days, the triumphs, and the challenges. This journey has fueled my desire to continue learning and to address gaps in education, services, and support for women and families.

I am here to be your person to call on, to assist you in whatever way I can, and to join you on this journey of motherhood.

Cheers,

Jess x
